Check in

Hola Galeras,

I do not not have ever dreamed of camping but the idea of living in the woods is surprisingly magical to me.

Or maybe a lighthouse would be better suited for me.

To tiptoe again into a small waterfall.

Something that would let us live and create without distracting sounds and people.

To make art with dirt under my finger nails and eat only in bowls with fun patterns.

It’s a weird goal but sometimes you dream outside of boxes.

So… the check in.

Q and a

What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?

The fast answer is no. One because I change my mind about things as I grow and two because I don’t think it is healthy to have all the things. I look at rich people and they seem awful.

Maybe the real idea is to want happiness and be simple in your wants. It shouldn’t be about things, I guess. I’m not that enlightened, I still want crap I have no use for but I can imagine a time when I let all that go. It feels sane.

How do you balance work and home life?

I just kind of have too. Is the simple answer. I have no other choice to stay creative. I try to always make a list of the important things and keep open spaces for them. I got back into journaling and that helps me keep focus.

With my big art business and having a family, I just have to do my best to stay on it. I fall behind sometimes but I try to make up for it.

It’s a big beach and the waves are infinite but in a great way. I love to swim.

List the people you admire and look to for advice…

Hmmm… this is a good one. I don’t ask people questions a lot. It’s not that I think everyone isn’t smart but I guess I worry I’ll sound insane. I read a lot of biographies though. I like philosophical thoughts. I model some of my qualities off people like Lenny Kravitz and Ben Harper. They just have a nice philosophy to living.

They try to just live and rest in their ideas in the pursuit of peace and creativity.

I’m on my long road to peace and creativity.

Q and A

What was the last live performance you saw?

Geez, it has been a long while. I gotta think about this one.

I feel like it was Ben Harper at the 9:30 Club in DC. Alec and I went and it was amazing. We stood in a dark room hugging each other too the live sounds of Ben. It was one of my favorite concerts ever.

I was almost in tears.

Um not one for many things but I was moved. I’m sure we saw some local music later but this is the one that stuck with me.

The rhythm of his music locks in with me.

How about you?

Q and A

What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

This in two was is not a shock and is very cliche but I love Halloween. I love movies like The Crow and Nightmare before Christmas. They were kind of my gather around the campfire films for me and my friends as teens. Even now when I think of it I want to watch Rocky Horror Picture Show. It just had all the cool costumes and special movie nights. It was silly, sexy and had candy. What’s not too like?
