Weekend recap

Hola Galeras,

So many videos and things to share with you.

I am working on a bunch of new paintings for the art market I’m in next month. I wanted some medium size paintings to sell. So along with some older ones I have some new paintings too.

Making a few smaller ones too for the market. Always good to have different prices.

Abstracts are good for sanity. I might sell some too but I have never tried.

On a different point, we sold the condo. I have mixed emotions about it.

Sometimes you just gotta let it all out to move on.

A little more abstracts.

Sleep tight kiddos.

Ink wash lessons

Hola Galeras,

A good ink wash is unpredictable but not unpleasant. You have to be willing to wait and see as it dries. It sometimes looks like a lot but isn’t much at all.

How ink washes dry can go a few ways. Super dark, almost invisible and just right. It’s all controlled by layering. You gotta just go for it.

The edges are often a good marker for how the rest will come out when it dries.

Layers…

Figure out if you’re heavy handed like me. It comes with practice.

Painter’s breakfast

Hola Galeras,

Today is special Galeras. We have sold and are signing off and handing over keys to the condo. I’m happy but sad.

I know everything is fine but I feel like it’s a huge thing and huge things take a lot of you some times.

Wish us luck Galeras as we take big steps.

Painter’s vlog

Hola Galeras,

Lots of making going on this week and a little stress. Hopefully the condo will be done Thursday. It will be nice to never have to go there again. It had nice part but the last few years there have been awful.

I look forward to focusing on my future self in this new chapter. Being the Siddartha of my future of sorts.

Painter’s Breakfast

Hola Galeras,

It has been a big week and a nice breakfast. I finished myself in these moments hoping to be clever. The food hit me sold in the stomach and reminded me of a Caribbean potato salad. My abuela and my Tia would make these long lasting meals at the end of the day. We used to eat twice a day.

I keep remembering this picture I took of my bag.

I miss this art book. I still have it but I miss it at the same time. It’s not meant to make sense.

Good meals are like time traveling.

Week end roll out

This is a love letter to how I used to film and I still love it.

I honestly forgot most of this book 25 years ago. It was a big part of my life. Not a lot of stories about strong brown boys growing up. This was a rebel yell for me. Great book and also horny book.

My deep reads for a few years has molded me a bit. I hear the tails of my heroes and their struggles and can’t understand how they kept it together, other than they had too. I get older and outlived so many so fast. I think you are your age even after death. Many thoughts but less paint on walks.

Enjoy Galeras.

I hope they reach you deeply.

Painter’s Breakfast

I kind of like how this came together. It’s more honest of how most of the painters I have known eat.

So much love to all of you.

My Galeras.

Week end roundabout

Hola Galeras,

I would call it a busy week. You can be the judge.

I made it through though.

How was your week? I ask because I want to start hearing back from y’all. I find you all fascinating. Your eyes inspire me to share so much of my life. Thank you.

I’m studying this artist right now.

Love yous

The price of progress and artist intentions.

Q and a

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Being a Dj was such a dream. It was honestly like this thing that I thought was completely attainable. Because my father was a DJ. He came up here from Trinidad and Tobago with a dream and he fulfilled it. It gave me hope for things that other people thought was impossible. And for a little while, I actually did that I was a DJ. I did music on digital radio, as well as I DJ in some clubs. It was wild, but ultimately my mind could not keep up with the crazy hours but for a couple years, I lived that dream of the five-year-old me.

My setup was never this nice. But it was fun at times.
